If there is a lot of content, if it is a niche developer and if it is done to exacting standards with monetary investment on the part of said developer, then I do believe they should get paid for their work. However I am quite certain that the base game and games with DLC added will still have the same code base throughout the life of this sim, otherwise the modability would be for naught.Īs for DLC in general, the main thing here is, you should inform yourself on how much work is spent on a DLC and who is doing it and then decided if the price is right, as nowadays DLC and expansion have become quite mixed up, as most expansion are only supplied by digital download (ergo the DLC tag). Modding by its very nature will fracture the multiplayer community anyways, as there are some that will have problems with one mod or the other or just don't want to install it.

What about the DLC stuff for GT5 that no one can use anymore except on there own systems will assetto go the same route? Should I be concerned about this when considering a DLC purchase? Should I consider that they may not tell me they wont support the old stuff when the new version comes? I am simply stating that I feel it is a bad idea. that is misleading and only encourages these types of actions more from other developers until you have games that cost 50dollars but in order to play with anyone online you have to spend $150 I can not afford to do that for a new game every year or two which is in fact the typical turn around for the new sim.

It is misleading and enables them to short change the content in order to secure post game income. I would envision they would have to somehow lock down the items they wanted to sell so others could not add in free community versions or how would they ever sell any of it? I just think it is a bad business model.
